Primus                                                                                                                                                                         Friday, June 22 at 9 p.m.

(Special guest Fishbone)

Tickets start at $35                                                                                                                                                    On sale now

Influential alternative rock icons Primus return The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, June 22 with special guest Fishbone. The band is touring in support of their first album in 11 years, Green Naugahyde, featuring the line-up of bassist/singer Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane.

For the last 27 years, Primus has followed in the footsteps of boundary-pushing artists like Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd to create some of the most original and inventive music in existence. There was no earth-shattering catalyst behind Green Naugahyde other than the fact that all three of these musicians wanted to experiment again.

Claypool and LaLonde concur that Lane injected the band with a new energy that’s evident in every note of Green Naugahyde. Produced and engineered by Claypool in his personal studio, the album’s warm sound and unique tones are pure Primus and could never be obtained via a set of Internet plug-ins. Green Naugahyde expands on the Primus’ incomparable sound and also sees them bringing it into the next millennium.

Above all Green Naugahydeis a Primus record with all of the magic and mystery that phrase entails—and while no one can say for sure what the future will hold in store for the band, the most important thing is that the album exists and will inevitably hold its own in the band’s impressive cannon of music. Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald & Boz Scaggs: The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue Sunday,                       June 24 at 8 p.m.

Tickets start at $39.50                                                                                                                                               On sale now

Grammy® Award-winning singer-songwriters Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs are hitting the road again this summer as “The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue,” including a stop at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Sunday, June 24.

To the delight of fans, the three hit-making artists will appear on stage, together as one band, to perform a show consisting of their signature mix of blue-eyed soul, rock, jazz and R&B. Rolling Stone has described the show as “a loose blast through the stars’ hits and revved-up covers that had the crowd twisting in the aisles.”

With the revamped 2012 “The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue,” Fagen, McDonald and Scaggs are giving fans an unprecedented opportunity to hear them delve deep into their individual classic catalogs of music, along with selected hits and tributes to their influences.  Back in 2010, theLas Vegas Review Journal raved, “when it came to the playlist, no guys are going to come up with a hipper mix tape for you than Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald,” while the Boston Herald described how “the Dukes raided the past, coming up with chestnuts from soul legends, rock ’n’ roll architects and hippie icons…it was great to see them embrace a set no one imagined they’d do in 1977.”

The Dukes have once again assembled a stellar band for the occasion, and will be accompanied by Jon Herington (guitar); Freddie Washington (bass); Shannon Forest (drums); Michael Leonhart, Walt Weiskopf and Jay Collins (horns); Jim Beard (organ); plus background singers Carolyn Leonhart and Catherine Russell.

Last Summer on Earth Tour featuring Barenaked Ladies                                                                                         Saturday, July 28 at 8 p.m.

(With Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd & The Monsters and Cracker)

Tickets start at $40.50                                                                                                                                               On sale now

Multi-platinum pop rock group Barenaked Ladies announced “Last Summer On Earth,” a freewheeling road show, featuring Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd & The Monsters and Cracker. The much-anticipated tour hits The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, July 28.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the Barenaked Ladies, who recently announced that they will be composing an original score for Animal House: The Musical, a theatrical production based on the popular 1978 comedy.  In addition, the group released their long-awaited rarities album Stop Us If You’ve Heard This One Before! on May 8. The album features 12 rare and previously unreleased tracks including demos, b-sides, remixes, and live recordings from 1994 to 2003.  Over the course of the past 22 years, Barenaked Ladies has amassed an international fan base whose members number in the millions. Their career highlights includes eight Juno Awards and multiple Grammy® nominations, more than 14 million albums sold worldwide and a plethora of hit singles, including No. 1 hit “One Week,” as well as “Pinch Me, “Brian Wilson,” “If I Had $1,000,000” and many more, along with the theme song for the hit CBS television series, “The Big Bang Theory.” Last year they released All In Good Time, their 11th studio album and first as a four-piece (Ed Robertson – guitar/vocals, Jim Creeggan – bass/vocals, Kevin Hearn – keyboard/vocals and Tyler Stewart – drums/vocals).

Over the course of their illustrious career, Blues Traveler has sold more than 10 million combined units worldwide, played over 2,000 live shows in front of more than 30 million people, and, in “Run-Around,” had the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history, which earned them a Grammy® for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Their movie credits include “Blues Brothers 2000,” “Kingpin,” “Wildflowers” and others. A television favorite, they have been featured on “Saturday Night Live,” “Austin City Limits,” VH1’s “Behind the Music” and they hold the record for the most appearances of any artist on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Their brand-new, two-CD retrospective, 25, offers an impressive overview of that career, with one disc featuring greatest hits like “Run-Around,” “Hook,” “But Anyway” and “Carolina Blues” (representing every one of their nine studio albums) and a new cover of Sublime’s “What I Got,” as well as a second disc which includes b-sides, unreleased demos and rarities.

Colorado’s Big Head Todd & The Monsters (“Bittersweet,” “Broken Hearted Savior,” “Resignation Superman”) are known for their timeless songwriting, powerful live performances, and unique sound – all reasons the band has garnered a sizable loyal following during their two decades making music.  Today, the ever-evolving outfit continues to sell out venues, including their always-epic annual shows at Red Rocks. In 2011, the group helped make history when they performed “Blue Sky” to the crew of space shuttle Discovery, becoming the only band to ever play a shuttle wake-up call live from NASA’s Mission Control. Last year, the band gathered some of the greatest living blues musicians to record the critically acclaimed 100 Years of Robert Johnson (Ryko/Big Records), a stirring tribute album featuring 10 potent interpretations of some of the most vital and durable music of the past century. Big Head Blues Club, as the ad hoc ensemble called itself, featured a rotating cast of both blues legends and keepers of the flame including B.B. King, the now deceased Hubert Sumlin, Honeyboy Edwards (who also recently passed, at age 96) and many others.

Cracker has been described as a lot of things over the years: alt-rock, Americana, insurgent-country, and have even had the terms punk and classic-rock thrown at them. But more than anything Cracker members are survivors. Cofounders David Lowery and Johnny Hickman have been at it for 20 years now – amassing nine studio albums (their most recent, 2009′s critically acclaimed Sunrise In The Land Of Milk And Honey), multiple gold records, thousands of live performances, hit songs that are still in current radio rotation around the globe, and a worldwide fan base – that despite the major sea-changes within the music industry – continues to grow each year. Along with longtime drummer Frank Funaro (since 1998′s Gentleman’s Blues) and bassist Sal Maida (since 2006′s Greenland), this uniquely American band has no intentions of slowing down. Look for new Cracker material to surface sometime next year. For more information on the tour, visit lastsummeronearth.com.

Earth, Wind & Fire                                                                                                                                                      Friday, Aug. 3 at 8 p.m.

Tickets start at $39.50                                                                                                                                               On sale now

Legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire (EWF) returns to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, Aug. 3.

The band combines soul, jazz, R&B, funk and rock into their own unique sound that attracts music fans of all generations. They are one of the most popular and successful bands in the last 40 years. EWF has won multiple Grammy® awards and has had numerous top ten hits including “Shining Star,” “Got to Get You into My Life,” “September,” “Boogie Wonderland” and “Let’s Groove.”

During the 1970s, a new brand of pop music was born – one that was steeped in African and African-American styles – particularly jazz and R&B but appealed to a broader cross-section of the listening public. As founder and leader of the band EWF, Maurice White not only embraced but also helped bring about this evolution of pop, which bridged the gap that has often separated the musical tastes of black and white America. It certainly was successful, as EWF combined high-caliber musicianship, wide-ranging musical genre eclecticism, and ’70s multicultural spiritualism

In 2000, EWF was inducted to The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.   In 2001, Eagle Rock Entertainment released the documentary “Earth, Wind & Fire: Shining Stars,” which contains rarely seen historic video footage along with in-depth interviews with the band members.

The co-founding members of EWF, Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson, continue the band’s legacy as one of the most celebrated and influential forces in history performing at sold-out concerts around the world.  Maurice White no longer tours with the group, but remains the band’s heart and soul from behind the scenes as composer and producer. Tedeschi Trucks Band and B.B. King                                                                                                                          Sunday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m.

Tickets start at $45                                                                                                                                                    On sale now

Tedeschi Trucks Band and B.B. King hit The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for a night of rock and blues on Sunday, Sept. 2.

Armed with a new Grammy® Award for debut album, Revelator, Tedeschi Trucks Band is catapulting to new heights of popularity as they welcome the spring with a U.S. tour and their first live album. Led by one of the most dynamic husband-wife teams in popular music, singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi and slide guitar virtuoso Derek Trucks, Tedeschi Trucks’ 11-piece ensemble is the ultimate big band for lovers of rock and delta blues mixed with funk, gospel, jazz and world music.

At the age of 32, Derek became one of the youngest recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award as a longtime member of the Allman Brothers Band. He entered 2012 newly ranked at No. 16 among Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in a poll of his peers and industry experts. Susan, who Downbeat says “stirs the soul,” had five Grammy®  nominations as a solo artist prior to her first win for Revelator, an album that All Music Guide hailed for having “everything a listener could want: grit, groove, raw, spiritual emotion, and expert-level musical truth.”

Since the 1950s, there has been only one King of the Blues – Riley B. King, affectionately known as B.B. King.  Since King started recording in the late 1940s, he has released more than 60 albums, many of them considered blues classics, like 1965s definitive live blues album “Live At The Regal,” and 1976s collaboration with Bobby “Blue” Bland, “Together For The First Time.” King’s most popular crossover hit, “The Thrill Is Gone” went No. 15 on the pop charts. His classic songs such as “Payin’ The Cost To Be The Boss,” “Caldonia,” ” How Blue Can You Get,” “Everyday I Have The Blues,” and “Why I Sing The Blues,” are concert (and fan) staples.

King’s technique is complex, featuring delicate filigrees of single string runs punctuated by loud chords, subtle vibratos, and “bent” notes.  The technique of rock guitar playing is to a large degree derived from King’s playing.

Over the years, King has developed one of the world’s most readily identified guitar styles.  King has mixed traditional blues, jazz, swing, mainstream pop and jump into a unique sound.  His singing is richly melodic, both vocally and in the “singing” that comes from his guitar.  King has influenced Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Rush, Johnny Winter, Albert King and many others while being influenced by Charles Brown, Lowell Fulsom, Elmore James, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Jimmy Rushing, T-Bone Walker, Bukka White and others.

Over the years, King has been bestowed fifteen Grammy Awards by his peers.  King was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987King received the Grammy® “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 1987.

Daryl Hall & John Oates                                                                                                                                             Thursday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.

Do What You Want, Be Who You Are Tour 2012

Tickets start at $45                                                                                                                                                    On sale now

Daryl Hall & John Oates, the top selling duo in music history, will deliver a night of their greatest hits at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Thursday, Sept. 20.

Starting out as two devoted disciples of earlier greats, Daryl Hall & John Oates are soul survivors in their own right. They have become such musical influences on some of today’s popular artists that the September 2006 cover of Spin Magazine’s headline read: “Why Hall and Oates are the New Velvet Underground.” Their artistic fan base includes Rob Thomas, John Mayer, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie and Gym Class Heroes who dubbed their tour “Daryl Hall for President Tour 2007.” One of the most sampled artists today, their impact can be heard everywhere from boy band harmonies, to neo-soul to rap-rock fusion.

Signed to Atlantic Records by AhmetErtegan in the 1970s, the pair has sold more albums than any other duo in music history. Their 1973 debut album, Abandoned Luncheonette, produced by ArifMardin, yielded the Top 10 single, “She’s Gone,” which also went to No. 1 on the R&B charts when it was covered by Taveras. The duo recorded one more album with Atlantic, War Babies, (produced by Todd Rundgren) before they were dropped and promptly signed to RCA. Their tenure at RCA would catapult the duo to international superstardom.

From the mid-70s to the mid-80s, the duo would score six No. 1 singles, including “Rich Girl” (also No. 1 R&B), “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do) (also No. 1 R&B), “Maneater” and “Out of Touch” from their six consecutive multi-platinum albums. The era would also produce an additional five Top 10 singles, “Sara Smile,” “One on One,” “You Make My Dreams,” “Say It Isn’t So” and “Method of Modern Love.”

Most recently as a duo, they released their first box set, Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall & John Oates.  The box set marks the first comprehensive multi-CD, multi-label deluxe box set compilation ever assembled from their entire career’s work including four CDs containing 74 tracks (16 of them previously unreleased).

With the 40th anniversary of their first album, Whole Oats, 2012 finds Daryl Hall & John Oates very much at the height of their powers making their own kind of soul, with a new generation of musicians recognizing not only their historic track record of success, but also their continuing influence and achievements.

Robert Randolph & the Family Band’s debut album, Live at the Wetlands (2002), included musical influences from famous soul groups like Earth, Wind & Fire and Sly &The Family Stone. The album’s success paved the way for Randolph to be recognized on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list in September 2003. Throughout the 2000s, some of the group’s most popular work included ABC’s NBA theme song “We Got Hoops” and well-known single “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That” which was used in several NBC commercials and Discovery Channel’s summer lineup.

Robert Randolph & the Family Band’s newest album, We Walk This Road (2010), is a celebration of black music over the past 100 years and its social messages from the last 30 years. The songs tie together messages of hope and positivity among black culture with the purpose of inspiring people.
