“Celebrity Apprentice” Winner John Rich Performs at Eastside Cannery

Singer, Songwriter and “Celebrity Apprentice”

John Rich at Eastside Cannery December 3!

Featuring Special Guest Cowboy Troy

John Rich the country music singer, songwriter, producer and winner of “Celebrity Apprentice” will perform at the Eastside Cannery December 3, 2011 at 9 p.m.  The concert will also include Cowboy Troy whose music incorporates country, rap and rock ‘n roll influences.

Rich’s first solo project, Son of a Preacher Man, not only exposed his creative voice and “everyman” style but gave him the fastest rising single of his career, “Shuttin’ Detroit Down.”  The song captured the outrage of an economic troubled time and propelled the album to #3 on the Billboard country chart. “Shuttin’ Detroit Down” was never intended to be on the Son of a Preacher Man album. Audience reaction to the song convinced Rich to re-route his tour to Nashville where he could perform on a Friday night and get into the studio on Saturday. Within two weeks the song was on the album and selling.

During his career, Rich has written more than 1300 songs but not every selection was right for his partnership with Big Kenny in the group Big & Rich. So, in 2007, when Kenny announced he was taking time off for rehabilitation, Rich saw it as his window of opportunity to try something new. He has transformed into one of Country music’s most identifiable faces and voices.

Rich is a three-time American Society of Composers, Authors and Publisher’s (ASCAP) Songwriter of the Year with 13 top ten hits, including songs written for Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean and Taylor Swift.

In 2011, Rich was named the winner of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice program and in the process won $250,000 for his charity of choice, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Cowboy Troy is not your typical country singer. His music is inspired by country, rap and rock–something he calls “hick-hop”.  Troy’s debut album “Loco Motive” debuted at #2 on the Billboard Country chart and went on to become the number one country music download on iTunes.   Troy is also a former host of the USA Network’s “Nashville Star” program that showcases amateur country artists.
